Is Iran trying to sell thier Oil in Euros instead of U.S. dollars?
Nuclear weapons?
No.
Homsexuals or Holocoust?
Guess again.
Is Iran preparing to sell oil in Euros?
As long as petroleum is traded in dollars the American dollar will remain the world’s principal reserve currency, the center of the global monetary system.
“Iran could take some business away from the two incumbent energy exchanges, the International Petroleum Exchange and the New York Mercantile Exchange who both invoice sales solely in dollars.”
“Whoever controls the volume of money in any country is absolute master of all industry and commerce.” –President James A. Garfield
What about those who control the volume of money worldwide?
But remember, MONEY is nothing but TRUST, conveniently printed on paper.
I think what you are refering to was the original proposed motion to start trading oil in Euro’s instead of Dollars. The motion i beleive was put forward by Venezuela, which at the time held the rotating OPEC presidency.
You are correct in your assertion that trading oil in Dollars has to a large extent prevented the U.S. economy and the value of its currency from slumping to an all time low – a factor heavily influenced by the current white-house administration and it’s policies and in the middle east.
The discerning factor however is China’s interests in the U.S. Economy (which it all but carries through massive foreign investment in both stock and currency) and the repercussions regarding it’s primary consumer base (The U.S.) – should any market collapse occur.
China’s influence over these global markets and OPEC countries in particular is powerful and in the long term I do not believe any OPEC member state will drop the Dollar in favour of the Euro.
